Each department/organization covered under the normal advisory jurisdiction of the Central Vigilance Commission needs to have a vigilance department headed by a senior level officer designated as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO). The Vigilance department in NMDC Steel Limited is functioning not just as an Investigating Agency for punitive action but as a preventive and proactive agency that propagates the concept of ‘Vigilance for Corporate Growth’ with emphasis on Transparent Systems and strives to bring about qualitative improvement in the functioning of the Corporation.
The focus of the Vigilance Department is to facilitate an environment where people can work with integrity, transparency, and in an impartial manner. The Vigilance Department also ensures that any complaint received is dealt with diligently and in strict compliance with CVC guidelines.
The Chief Vigilance Officer in NMDC Steel Limited provides advice to the management to bring about changes in the systems and procedures proactively and based on the investigation carried out to bring about qualitative improvement in the functioning of the company. He also acts as a link between the Corporation and the Ministry, CVC, CBI, and other PSEs on Vigilance matters and for sharing of Qualitative initiatives suggested and implemented in the company.
Complaints regarding any unethical practices, wilful violations of rules for personal gains, etc may be reported to CVO, NMDC Steel Limited by lodging the same at the Vigilance on-line portal or through post. There is also a Whistle Blower Policy for NMDC employees through which they can bring to the notice of Management any malpractices or manipulations causing loss or bringing about disrepute to the Corporation.
To bring transparency in the system and speedy disposal of complaints, provision has been made to file vigilance complaints through the website. All Complaints are dealt with only after confirming the veracity of the complainant, as per laid down procedures.
